Create a Recognition

Before creating your recognition(s), we recommend you learn more about setup options and considerations. You can create one or more recognitions in the same Nitro environment.

Step 1

  1. Create actions specific to recognition activities. For example, RECOGNIZE and BE_RECOGNIZED.
  2. If recognition will include points:
    • Create one or more point categories. Typically, you will want to create a separate "giving" point category. This ensures that users are gifting points they've been credited specifically for recognition and not giving away the points they've earned from completing program activities.
    • Credit users with points in their "giving" point category. See Add Points to a Point Category for more information. Typically, credits will be applied on a set schedule such as monthly, quarterly, etc.
  1. If you plan to limit recognition to specific users and you do not already have groups set up, then create groups and assign users to the groups. See Manage Groups for more information.

Step 2

  1. Open Nitro Studio > Motivate > Recognitions > New.
  1. On the About tab, enter general settingsClosed.
  2. On the Actions tab, define the actionsClosed associated with the Giver and the Receiver.
    • Giver - The action that is logged for the user that gives the recognition.
    • Recipient - The action that is logged for the user that receives the recognition.
  3. On the Point Categories tab, define the point categoriesClosed you want to pull points from and deposit points into.
    • Giver - The point category that you want to remove points from when a user gives a recognition.
    • Recipient - The point category that you want to add points to when a user receives a recognition.
  4. On the Giver Rules tab, define who can give recognitions. For example, if your program is only using manager recognition, you would drag and drop the managers group(s) to the ruleset. Note: If you selected the "Allow everyone to give recognition" option, you do not need to set Giver Rules.
  5. On the Recipient Rules tab, define who can receive recognitions. For example, if your program is only using manager recognition, you would add the non-manager's group(s) to the ruleset. Note: If you selected the "Allow everyone to receive recognition" option, you do not need to set Recipient Rules.
  1. On the Categories tab, create the categoriesClosed that users can select from when awarding a recognition.
  2. Click Save & Finish.
